Leah: Hey everyone! I’m Leah!
Fiona: And I’m Fiona! You won’t believe what Dcat’s letting us do today!
Leah: She’s letting us do 11 Most Important Muppet Facts.
Noah: 11? Why not 10?
Leah: I guess cause Dcat couldn’t pick just 10. I guess the 11th one is really good she couldn’t pass it up.
Fiona: And Dcat even promised not to get involved.
Dcatpuppet: *pops up* Yep, that’s right, but a lot of these facts I know so I might comment on it.
Noah: So…in other words you’ll take my roll?
Dcat: In a sense, yeah.
Fiona: Well, let’s get it started! YAAAAAAAYYYY!
Leah: #1-The name “Muppets” was thought to be a combination of the words marionette and puppet.
Fiona: But Jim Henson said this, “It was really just a term we made up”.
Dcat: *pop up* I knew that! It’s in a lot of his biographies that I read.
[Leah and Fiona stare at Dcat]
Dcat: …Sorry *leaves*
Noah: #2-Kermit was built in March 1955 made from one of Jim Henson’s mother’s old coats with ping-pong balls for his eyes.
Adam: He was also not considered to be a frog until roughly 10 years later.
Dcat: *pops up* I knew that. It’s in Jim’s new biography.
[Noah and Adam glare at Dcat]
Dcat: …pardon me. *leaves*
Nakato: #3-Miss Piggy started as a nameless character who was just a chorus line dancer.
Neko: *whispers* can’t believe Dcat talked me into this. *out loud* As soon as she gave Kermit a karate chop, a star was born.
Dcat: *pops up* I read that in a few books. I think the karate chop was in episode 2 of the Muppet Show, season 1.
[Nakato and Neko give Dcat mean looks]
Dcat: …oops, my bad. *leaves*
Scooter: #4-The original titles for Sesame Street were 123 Ave. B, Fun Street…
Pepe the King Prawn: And the most boring one, The Video Classroom, okay.
Dcat: *pops up* I…did not know that! Who came up with those names anyway?
[Scooter and Pepe give Dcat and annoyed expression]
Dcat: …sooooorrrryyyyy. *leaves*
Kermit the Frog: #5-When a child walks on the set, the phrase “Blue Sky” is used to alert the cast and crew to refrain from swearing.
Dcat: *pops up* I knew that. It was mentioned at the beginning of Jim Henson’s biography.
[Kermit gives Dcat his befuddled expression]
Gonzo: #6-Kermit received a real honorary doctorate of amphibious letters from Southampton College in New York.
Dcat: *pops up* I didn’t know that either! I wonder if it’s in Jim’s biography.
Gonzo: Um…Dcat, I thought you said you promised you wouldn’t intrude?
Dcat: …excuse me. *leaves*
Dr. Teeth: #7-The Muppets knocked the Beatles off the #1 UK album slot in the summer of 1977.
Dcat: *pops up* I kind of expected that! The biography might say something about it.
[Dr. Teeth gives Dcat a look that can easily to described by annoyed]
Dcat: …Dcat out! *leaves*
Clifford: #8-The Muppets were part of the original cast of Saturday Night Live and the staff hated writing for them.
Rizzo the Rat: I’ll say, John Belushi referred to them as the “Mucking Fuppets”. Kind of rude to be honest.
Dcat: *pops up* I’ll say, and I think they were really happy when the Muppets finally got their own show!
[Rizzo and Clifford give Dcat mean looks]
Dcat: …goodbye! *leaves*
Jasmine: #9-One of the original plots for the Muppet Show was titled “Sex and Violence”.
Kylie Owlet: Hosted not by Kermit, but by the orchestra conductor, Nigel. He was eventually fired for being “too wimpy”.
Dcat: *pops up* I saw that episode. It was really good, but the final idea for the Muppet Show was better.
Jasmine: …Do you want someone to kill you?
Kylie: Yeah, you’ve been doing this the entire time.
Dcat: …again, sorry. *leaves*
Jasmine: That girl is going to bet it soon. I can feel it.
Leah: #10-Jim Henson turned down the role for Yoda.
Dcat: *pops up* Yeah, and eventually the role was taken by Frank Oz, who did the voice very wonderful-.
[Fiona runs up to Dcat holding a baseball bat and hits her one the head with it, knocking her flat unconscious]
Leah: *standing there wide-eyed* Fiona, did you just-?
Fiona: She was being hysterical, I had to do it.
Leah: She’s going to be so mad when she wakes up.
Fiona: I’m not scared of her. And finally, #11-Most of the Muppets are left-handed since the puppeteer uses their right hand to operate the head while operating the arm rod with their left hand.
Leah: Oh yeah, I noticed a lot of Muppets are left handed, especially Floyd and Janice whenever they play guitar.
Fiona: And now for a final quote from the Master of Muppets: “My hope is to leave the world a bit better than when I got here”-Jim Henson. Now excuse us while we go find Dcat an icepack.
Leah: Yeah, and hope she doesn’t go on a rampage when she wakes up.
THE END
