Chapter 8:

In a hall, the girl wearing pink and red with Sky and the little blonde girl were running, searching for the Spirit people.

"What exactly are we trying to do, Francine?" Sky asked the older girl.

"We're supposed to locate the Spirit people and alert everyone about where they are," the girl named Francine explained.

"I'm tired!" the blonde girl whined.

"Then go back to the living room with the others, Whitney!" Sky shouted at the girl.

"You go back to the living room!" the girl named Whitney bit back.

"Shut it! Both of you! Honestly, I feel like your babysitter sometimes!" Francine shouted.

"Hey, something's happening in that room!" Sky stated, pointing into the parlor, where Nezo and Zephyr were fighting.

Zephyr held his hand out, with his palm up and facing Nezo and shouted, "Ignis Flatu!" [Fire Blast] A huge column of fire emitted from his hand and headed straight for the Shadow, instantly engulfing him flames.

"Awesome!" Sky exclaimed, his eyes glowing in amazement.

"Stand back!" France shouted, grabbing the boy and pulling him back before he got hurt.

When the fire stopped and disappeared, with nothing but smoke left, Zephyr smirked and said, "Well, that takes care of that."

"Not quite," Nezo's voice sneered. The smoke cleared, revealing the Shadow was still standing, not at all appearing to be harmed. "But good try though," he said.

"How did you-?" Zephyr stammer, stunned the Shadow wasn't burnt to the bone, or even slightly singed.

"Those flames had to be over 100 degrees Fahrenheit! How did he survive," Francine gasped.

Nezo grinned, gripping his scythes, and started to run at Zephyr, ready to slice him into pieces.

"Glaciem Cubus!" [Ice Cube] the alchemist shouted when Nezo was only two meters away, throwing an orb of energy at the Shadow, which instantly trapped him in a huge ice cube.

"Hey! You got him!" Whitney cheered.

"Yeah, let's put him in the freezer until we can figure out what to do with him later," Sky said.

Zephyr stepped toward his work and grinned sincerely at Nezo. "Stuck now?" he asked smugly. Zephyr leaned in to see if he could hear the Shadow reply. All he heard was, "Ianuae Magicae." [Teleport] Before Zephyr knew it, Nezo vanished from his frozen prison, shocking everyone.

"Where'd he go!?" Sky asked.

"He disappeared!" Whitney cried out.

Zephyr stood in front of the ice, confused, until he saw a shadow was looming over him. He glanced behind himself and saw Nezo was standing with a smug grin on his face.

"Surprise," the Shadow said before punching his master into the ice, shattering it instantly.

"Zephyr!" the three people shouted.

Meanwhile, Lio was still chasing Wolf who was still following the squirrel until he saw where the little rodent was going; Florence was standing near an open window and the squirrel skittered up to him.

"Good job on bringing Wolf to me. You can go now," Florence said as he picked up the little animal and set it on the windowsill. It scrambled out of the window and climbed onto the roof. Wolf came to a halt and growled at the fairy's presence.

"Wolf, listen to me; you're not supposed to do this. You can't kill our master. If you do, you'll end up killing yourself. We're linked to him remember?" Florence told the werewolf.

Wolf just barked.

"I know you've received orders to kill Lio, but Samuel is not to be trusted! He knows you'll just die if you kill your master!" Florence said.

Wolf snarled at the fairy before lunging at the fairy, claws out and scratched him really deeply on his torso and chest. Florence coughed up blood and choked until he collapsed on the ground. Lio couldn't tell, but he could've sworn he saw Wolf grin, which was kind of creepy with all of the sharp teeth in his mouth. The werewolf leapt out of the window and Lio watched as it ran into the woods.

"Great," Lio muttered before he ran to Florence's side. "So, you're on the good side?" he asked.

"Yes," Florence rasped. "Samuel wasn't aware that you, Zephyr and Janet had two Spirit people in their minds. Jane and Gloomy are on your side as well. We're trying to help you."

"I think Robin saw that earlier, but we weren't sure," Lio said. "I'm sorry I didn't step in to save you."

Florence smiled and said softly, "It's alright…oh it's moments like these that make me wish to be a Fury or a Shadow."

"Why?" Lio asked, confused since he was sure Florence insulted Nezo earlier.

"Didn't you know? Furies and Shadows have healing factors! They can heal themselves automatically without using a spell of some sort, unlike us fairies, and since I'm close to death right now, I can't use my magic. Furies and Shadows are also immune to flames and the cold. Fascinating isn't it?" Florence explained.

"Yeah, so fascinating it's also scary. But a crucifix dagger can kill Nezo right?" Lio asked.

"Yes, but any other blade won't harm him," Florence said.

"Oh shit," Lio said, whipping out his cell phone and called Zephyr.

In the parlor, Zephyr and Nezo were using their weapons to fight. Zephyr heard his phone ring and grabbed it out of his pocket, while still dueling with the Shadow.

"What is it?" he asked, a little annoyed since he was busy at the moment.

"Florence told me that Nezo and that Fury, Gloomy, have healing factors! They can heal themselves without any spell. And they're also immune to flames and cold weather," Lio stated.

"You're kidding?" Zephyr asked, as he used his sword to slice at Nezo's abdomen.

"No, I'm not! I wish I was though!" Lio admitted as Zephyr saw that the gash he gave Nezo was sealing up.

"Shit, this could be trouble," the alchemist thought.

"But don't worry! Florence, Gloomy and Jane are on our side! We won't have to worry about them!" Lio added, before hanging up.

Lio looked down at Florence, who was close to death. "I wish I knew something about medicine, and then I could help you," he told the fairy.

"Don't worry about me; right now, you have to stop Wolf before he sees someone or someone sees him! No matter how it goes, he will kill the person," Florence told his master as he pulled a small knife with a detailed handle out of his pocket. Lio took the blade and saw it was made of silver.

"Use that to kill Wolf. Try to get him anywhere in the chest. We'll tame him later when we've caught the other rebelling Spirit people," Florence told his master.

"I thought you were dying?" Lio said, confused since he was sure Florence was.

The fairy smirked and said, "Not really." Before Lio knew it, he disintegrated into gold dust, which vanished immediately, revealing a small gold token.

Lio picked up the token and observed it, until he remembered what Steven said earlier: "Once you defeat them or do anything that'll kill them right now, they'll turn into this token, where they will be contained until someone breaks the token on the floor."

"That's right, you can't kill the Spirit People right now, not while we're still alive," Lio muttered. He looked out the window at the woods, where Wolf ran off to. "I'm coming for you, Wolf," Lio said, gripping his new weapon, the silver knife.

Meanwhile, Skitter, Pepe and Ricky ran into the ballroom, which was all clean after the incident with Zephyr and Zackery causing an explosion inside. The room was circular, with white marble flooring, red walls and white marble ionic columns. There was also this door that led up to a stairway which led to a room on another floor that allowed you to look into the ballroom and play music through speakers.

"I don't see anyone here," Ricky said.

"Maybe we beat them here," Skitter assumed, taking a few steps forward, when suddenly something swooped down and grabbed her off of the floor.

"SKITTER!" Ricky and Pepe shouted.

They looked up to see Skylar had attached a trapeze to the ceiling and had grabbed Skitter off of the floor. The Acrobat slammed the girl into a wall and held her there.

"I was wondering when you were going to drop by," the ginger said to her master.

"Let her go!" Ricky shouted, whipping out his gun, about to shoot Skylar, when something zoomed by. Ricky looked around frantically, trying to figure out what or who is was, when his gun was snatched from his hand.

"My gun! Hey!" he shouted. He saw Broker standing on the other side of the room, smiling smugly at him and waving his gun mockingly. Pepe saw José step out from behind a column, gripping his guns, ready for action.

"Shit, it was a trap," Pepe muttered.

"You got that right," Ricky whispered to his friend.

In the parlor, Zephyr and Nezo are still fighting when Nezo managed to knock Zephyr's sword out of his hand.

"Dammit!" the alchemist shouted, about to go after his weapon when Nezo knocked him to the floor.

"This ends now," the Shadow sneered, about to slice his master with one of his scythes, when someone grabbed his arm from behind, stopping him.

"What the hell?" Nezo muttered, looking behind himself. His eyes widened to see it was Gloomy that had grabbed his arm.

Zephyr saw the Fury as well and muttered, "Gloomy."

"Where'd he come from?" Sky asked Francine.

"He probably teleports, just like Nezo does," Francine assumed.

"What the hell do you want, you damn Fury?" Nezo asked.

Gloomy just glared at him.

In another part of the mansion, Janet had run down a hall and turned a corner, where she nearly ran into Jane.

"Jane!" she exclaimed. The blonde guitarist just smiled at Janet.

Beatrice was still racing around the mansion, looking for Janet.

Lloyd and the Tough-Tooth were looking for Drake and Fry and vice versa.

The liger was now walking alongside Chantel, who he had grown to like.

Bog, Catty, and Wimpy were sitting on the island in the middle of the lake, waiting for their masters and mistress.

Keith, Peggy and Robin had just ran outside to look for the trio they were searching for.

Beast and Zachariah were looking through the bedrooms and closets for Liger.

The other teens and adults were still in the living room, waiting for all the chaos in the household to end.

Steven, Conner, and Darby were looking through the attic for some of the Spirit People.

Cliff, Darrian and Noah were walking through a hallway, searching as well.

Lio had run outside to hunt down Wolf, who was in the process of hunting a deer.

Everyone was hunting for someone and night was coming soon, which would make it even more difficult.

Noah stopped in his tracks and muttered, "Cliffhanger."
Yeah, just a little fourth wall break I threw in there. XD Anyway, who will win each of these battles? Will Lio succeed in killing Wolf? Why did Gloomy show up in the middle of Zephyr and Nezo's battle? How good of a friend will Liger be to Chantel? Will we hear more from Fry, Drake, Lloyd and the Tough-Tooth?
