Chapter 10:

Lloyd and Fry glared at each other in the den. Fry could easily see Lloyd was losing a lot of blood, but it didn't seem to bother the Indie in the slightest. He figured it was because of his willpower, which might be difficult in the fight.

"You scared you're going to lose?" the Indie asked his master.

"I was just about to ask you the same thing," Fry said, gripping his sword.

The two men charged at each other, and clashed their weapons together. "So, why were you trying to kill my niece?" Fry questioned.

"Well, she was the niece of that woman of yours. She killed Jane, and you know how I feel about her," Lloyd stated.

"No I don't, because you never said anything," Fry said.

"Did you forget what I said to that Playa when he was about to hit on her? I implied that I wanted to her for myself. Are you that dense?" Lloyd asked.

Fry smirked at the Indie. "What the hell are you smiling about?" Lloyd sneered.

"Sorry, I'm just surprised you know how to use the word implied," Fry stated smugly.

Lloyd narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth before attempting to punch Fry in the gut. Fry dodged and took the opportunity to jab Lloyd in his wounded shoulder.

"ARGH!" the Indie cried out in agony as Fry stepped away from him. "That was pretty cruel and unfair. Hitting an opponent's weak spots like that," the Indie grumbled.

"Yeah, but you would've done it right?" Fry said.

Lloyd smirked and said, "Yeah, I guess I would. Looks like there was a reason I was assigned to you."

"Does that mean you want to switch sides now?" Fry asked, acting hopeful.

Lloyd frowned and said, "Not in a million years."

Fry sighed and said, "I knew you'd say that." The man ran at Lloyd with his sword, ready to try attacking the man again.

Outside, the Tough-Tooth and Drake stood across from each other in the front yard.

"First the wall in the den, then the front door. Keith's probably going to have your head once he sees the damage you've done," Drake said, looking at the front door, which was knocked down. The Tough-Tooth didn't say anything.

"Not much of a talker, eh? Well I hope you can listen well; I don't want to be out here all evening. See the sunset? Night is coming, and it'll be hard to fight for both of us. Got it?" Drake stated.

His Spirit Person nodded and held his axe at the ready.

"I thought you'd understand," Drake said, running at the Tough-Tooth and attempted to punch him in the jaw. The Spirit person dodged his master's attack and tried to get him with the axe, but Drake did a double jump, dodging it completely.

Drake then kicked the man in the face, nearly knocking his opponent off his feet, but to no avail, the Tough-Tooth was still standing firmly on the ground. When Drake landed on the ground, he said, "You're very stubborn aren't you?"

His Spirit Person just grunted and tried to cut him with his ax. Drake jumped back, where he nearly ended up in the street. "This is going to be even trickier than I thought," he thought to himself.

Inside the house, Skitter had finally figured out how to break away from Skylar. The girl kicked the Acrobat in the shin, making the girl cry out in pain and release her. Skitter crashed down to the ballroom floor and got to her feet.

"You okay? That looked painful," Pepe asked.

"I'm fine. I think I just bruised myself," Skitter stated.

"That was a pretty good trick, but I'm still up here where you can't get me," Skylar taunted.

Skitter looked up towards Skylar and gripped her baseball bat. She scanned the room until she saw the door that led up to the room that looked into the ballroom from above was right next to her. Skitter threw open the door and ran in.

"Running away won't do you any good!" Skylar shouted.

Skitter ran up the stairs and made it to the room, where she pulled down the screens for the windows so Skylar wouldn't see her. She searched around the room until she found the stereo and a big stack of CD, most of them belonging to Janet. "I hope my plan works," the geek muttered as she looked through the cases.

Down in the ballroom, José said to Pepe, "Looks like your little nerd girlfriend ran off. You're on your own now."

"She didn't run away. Skitter may be a geek, but she's no scaredy-cat," Pepe insisted. "And also, she's not my girlfriend. She's not my type."

"Ah, I see, not interested in the geeky type. Oh well, at least there are a lot of girls in this mansion you live in right?" José said.

Pepe raised his eyebrows and said, "Pardon?"

"When I first got here, I couldn't help but notice how many girls there were in this place. A lot of them are young and beautiful," José stated. "I saw your memories in your mind when I was first assigned to be your conscience. I saw you're a real player."

"What does it have to with the girls? Most of them are teenagers," Pepe said, worried about where this conversation was going.

"Don't tell me you haven't even once thought about it!" José exclaimed, laughing. "You know; making one of them sleep with you?"

Pepe's eyes widened in horror and he shouted, "What the hell makes you think I'll ever do that! I'm not desperate!"

"Come on, admit it. You had to have thought about it at least once," José said.

"No, I wouldn't, because making a young girl have sex with you is rape, and I'm not really big on that," Pepe said.

"Says the guy who was a sex offender in his college years," José said with a sly grin.

Pepe gritted his teeth angrily before running towards José. The Playa ran out of the ballroom as his master chased him. "Shut your trap, you damn bastard!" Pepe shouted at him.

Skitter, who was in the process of put a CD in the stereo, had heard José latest comment: "Says the guy who was a sex offender in his college years."

"Pepe…was a sex offender?" Skitter muttered. She decided to talk to Pepe about that later, knowing she needed to focus on her plan. She turned the volume in the speakers in the ballroom all the way up and pressed play on the stereo.

"Where did that girl even go?" Skylar wondered, using the trapeze as a chair now. Then, really loud heavy metal music blasted through the speakers, startling the Acrobat. "What the heck!" she shouted, covering her ears. She looked around the room, trying to figure out where the noise was coming from, when Skitter opened the screen for the window.

"You!" Skylar shouted, jumping off of the trapeze and towards the window, attempting to go after the girl, but she slammed face first into the window and fell to the ground.

Skitter grabbed her baseball bat and ran downstairs to where Skylar was now standing and still covering her ears. Skitter ran up behind her and beat her on the head with her bat as hard as she could. Skylar cried out in pain as she was beaten to death by the metal baseball bat. Finally, the Acrobat collapsed to the ground, bleeding from her nose and parts of her head.

"Dammit…" she muttered. "How'd you know that would work?"

"Well, I bet in the Spirit World, there's no such thing as heavy metal music, especially none played that loudly," Skitter said in a voice loud enough for Skylar to hear her.

"It probably exists in the Nymph country, but it sure as heck isn't where I'm from," Skylar stated, smirking. The Acrobat then turned into light green dust, which vanished, revealing a small light green token. Skitter picked it up and ran off to find Pepe.

Back in the den, Fry and Lloyd were still going at each other with their weapons. Fry tried as hard as he could to stab the Indie someone on his body, but Lloyd was very skilled at fighting and dodged as fast as he could. Fry raised his sword attempting to get Lloyd in the shoulder, when the Indie used his mace to block the attack, and in the process, breaking off the upper part of the blade.

"Ha! I broke your sword!" he laughed, before elbowing Fry on the shoulder, making the man hunch over in pain. Lloyd raised his mace, ready to bash it into his master's back, when Fry saw that he had an open target: Lloyd's abdomen.

Fry thrust the remained of his sword into Lloyd's abdomen, making the Indie stop mid-attack and cough up blood. Fry released the sword's handle and stepped back, letting Lloyd fall to the ground on his back.

"Dammit! That was a good trick! But don't think I'm done yet!" the Indie shouted.

Fry picked up the piece of the blade that broke off and stood over Lloyd. "Sorry, man, but I think you are," he said, before stabbing Lloyd in the neck with the piece of metal, resulting in a huge explosion of red dust.

"Good thing that was dust and not something else," Fry muttered as the dust vanished and there was nothing but a red token left where Lloyd was lying. Fry picked it up and set out to find Janet.

Janet had run up to the roof, where Beatrice entered shortly after she did. "Don't think you're going to get away from me!" the Goth shouted, sending out a sound wave from her metal guitar.

Janet was forced across the roof, nearly falling off of the edge. "That was almost too close to call," she muttered. She positioned Jane's guitar, like she was going to play it, and strummed a note.

A huge sound wave was sent out of the guitar and forced Beatrice into the door that led back downstairs. "AH! DAMMIT!" the Goth shouted, as she tried to approach Janet. "That was pretty good, Blondie, but it's not as powerful as my metal guitar," she sneered.

Janet looked down at the guitar before she became to strum several notes. The various sound waves flew at Beatrice, forcing her away. "I think I know what to do with this," Janet said, grinning at the guitar. She began to play wildly on the electric guitar, making the sound waves strike Beatrice very quickly, forcing the Goth farther away from her. Janet played harder and faster by the second, just like she would do onstage. Beatrice screamed as she felt pain run throughout her body, mostly though her head.

Finally, Beatrice was at the edge of the roof, where Janet did a very strong A with the guitar. The sound wave hit Beatrice extremely hard, forcing the Goth off of the roof. "You bitch!" she shouted as she fell to the ground down below.

Janet gasped as what she had done and ran downstairs and outside through the backdoor, where she found Beatrice laying on the grass. "What'd I do?" she asked her Spirit Person.

"You forced me off the roof! That's what you did! Now I can't move!" Beatrice screamed.

Janet had an expression of regret and said, "I'm sorry."

"What are you apologizing for? You don't have to apologize for killing me. That Beast guy said you had to right?" Beatrice asked.

"Yeah, he did, but I don't think you should've gone down like this," Janet stated.

"Well, too late now. I'll be dead in a few moments. I just wish I knew what Nezo was doing right now…say, if you happen to see him, tell him Beatrice went down thinking about him, okay?" Beatrice asked her mistress.

Janet smiled and said, "I will, but you know you're not going to stay dead right? You're just going to turn into a token and if I break it, it'll bring you back. And hopefully, you'll come back being my friend rather than an enemy."

"Heh," Beatrice scoffed before disintegrating into purple dust, which revealed a purple token.

Janet picked it up and wondered, "I wonder how many of these Spirit People are left." She ran off to go find her husband so they could locate the others.

In the front yard, Drake and the Tough-Tooth were still fighting each other. Drake had already worked up a sweat and he could see the moon was already out. "Great, now it's really dark, but at least the moon is shining. I'll have some light," he muttered. He ran at the Tough-Tooth, attempting to punch the Spirit Person in the face.

In the woods, Keith, Peggy and Robin have found their Spirit people sitting on the island.

Catty said, "It's about time you came. We waited all evening."

Peggy scowled at the Aristocrat.

"Bog is near water, and Beast said it might give him an advantage in a fight," Robin whispered to his uncle.

"I know, but I have something that'll give me an advantage while he's in the water," Keith told his nephew.

Robin looked at his uncle with a confused expression and looked at Wimpy, who was still trembling.

Somewhere else in the woods, Lio heard a loud howl and saw Wolf standing on a rock and howling at the moon.

"Typical," Lio muttered, gripping his knife.

Somewhere else outside, Broker was circling around Ricky, who was standing in the middle of the road.

"I'm surprised those people trust you in that big house! They must have a lot of money and I wouldn't be surprised if they checked the safe every night to be sure all the money was still there, with you being a former robber and all!" Broker taunted, as Ricky gritted his teeth and glared at him.

In the mansion, Nezo had found a bay window in a big room, where he decided to lay down.

"This'll be a good spot to rest until those humans find me," he said to himself before using his hat to cover his eyes and falling asleep.

Pepe was still chasing José in the mansion, shouting, "You take all that back! You take every single damn thing you said back right now!"

"Never! You know it's true!" José hollered back.

"When I catch you, I promise that you'll become Swiss cheese!" Pepe snapped.

Chantel and Liger were running down another hall, no longer with Beast and Zachariah. Earlier, Beast had tried to shoot the big cat, but Chantel wouldn't let him, so the duo ran away to hide.

In the living room, Steven, Darby, Conner, Cliff, Darrian and Noah had just returned.

"Well, we couldn't find any of the Spirit people ourselves, but we heard a lot of action going on in the house, so we believe your friends and family have already located them," Steven stated.

"Yeah, I knew they would," Zackery said.

"But I wondered where my son went," Darrian said.

Zephyr, Francine, Whitney and Sky were looking around the mansion for Nezo. Zephyr knew that it was nearly midnight and at the rate this was going, it might go on until morning, which is when everyone will probably be too worn out to fight anymore, which might give the Spirit people an advantage.

Well, things are going to get crazy soon. Let's hope the humans can take down all of the Spirit People while they still have some energy left.

How will Keith defeat Bog?

Will Drake beat the Tough-Tooth?

Who will lose their temper and go crazy, Ricky or Pepe?

What did Pepe do in his past? Find out in Chapter 11 of Spirit People!
